The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
