The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
