The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
