Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
