Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 Upon your heart (O Muhammad SAW) that you may be (one) of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 This is (indicated) in the Books of earlier people. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 Do they wish Us then to hasten the punishment? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 Warn your tribe and your near kinsmen. 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 Put thy trust in the All-mighty, the All-compassionate 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I declare unto you upon whom the satans descend! 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 and say things which they do not act upon, 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
