The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
