The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
