The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
