The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
