The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
