The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 But save him who fears 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
