The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred, 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
