The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
