The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
