The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
