Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
