The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
