The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Praise belongs to God who has sent down upon His servant the Book and has not assigned unto it any crookedness; 1 unswerving. To warn of great violence from Him, and to give good tidings to the believers who do good deeds that theirs shall be a goodly wage 2 Where they will abide for ever; 3 and also to warn those who say: "Allah has taken to Himself a son," 4 Neither they nor their fathers had any knowledge of such utterance (that God has begotten a son). Whatever they say about (this matter) is vicious blasphemy and plain lies. 5 Then maybe you will kill yourself with grief, sorrowing after them, if they do not believe in this announcement. 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth for an adornment for it, and that We may try which of them is fairest in works; 7 For We shall certainly turn it to barren dust. 8 Or, do you think that the Fellows of the Cave and the Inscription were of Our wonderful signs? 9 (Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their disbelieving folk) to the Cave, they said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!" 10 Then We caused them to fall into a deep sleep for many years inside the cave. 11 Then We awakened them that We might show which of the two factions was most precise in calculating what [extent] they had remained in time. 12
