Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them, and they had not believed (it would have been different). 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 So it will come upon them suddenly, whilst they will be unaware. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 and then Our torment will strike them, 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
