The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
