Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day shall that indubitable event come to pass; 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 and had not known my account. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 "So no friend hath he here this Day. 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
