The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; 7 who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
