He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
