The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
