The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
