The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
