Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 By the Clear Book. 2 We have indeed sent it down in a blessed night – indeed it is We Who warn. 3 Therein is decreed every affair of wisdom 4 an order from Us. We are ever sending. 5 A mercy from your Lord. Verily He is all-hearing and all-knowing, 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 7 There is no god but He: He gives life and causes death. He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore. 8 Aye! they're in doubt sporting. 9 So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke, 10 Covering the people, this is a painful torment. 11 Our Lord! remove from us the torment, verily we shall become believers. 12 How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 [Still,] behold, We shall postpone this suffering for a little while, although you are bound to revert [to your evil ways: but] 15 The day when We will seize with the greatest seizure – We will indeed take revenge. 16 ۞ AND, INDEED, [long] before their time did We try Pharaoh's people [in the same way]: for there came unto them a noble apostle, [who said:] 17 saying, "Hand over God's servants to me. I am a trustworthy messenger for you. 18 Do not think yourselves to be above God: I have come to you with clear authority. 19 And surely I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord that you should stone me to death: 20 And if ye will not believe in me, then let me alone. 21 Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people. 22 (Allah said): "Depart you with My slaves by night. Surely, you will be pursued. 23 Then leave the sea calm they are an army that will be drowned. 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 and sown fields and splendid mansions, 26 and other bounties which they enjoyed yet left behind! 27 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them. 28 And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again). 29
