Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 "which guides to the Right Way; so we have come to believe in it, and we will not associate aught with Our Lord in His Divinity”; 2 and that “He – exalted be His Majesty – has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 'There were some foolish ones among us, who used to utter extravagant lies against Allah; 4 and we had thought that men and jinn would never speak against God a lie. 5 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 And we were wont to sit on seats therein to listen; but whosoever listeneth now findeth for him a dartin meteor in wait. 9 And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups each having a different way (religious sect, etc.). 11 Indeed, we thought that we should never be able to frustrate God in the earth, neither be able to frustrate Him by flight. 12 When we heard the call to guidance, we believed in it. He who believes in his Lord has no fear of loss or of injustice. 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. 18 And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass." 19
