The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 That is the Book, wherein is no doubt, a guidance to the godfearing 2 who believe in the unseen, establish the Salats and expend (in Our way) out of what We have bestowed on them; 3 who believe in the Book We have sent down to you (i.e. the Qur'an) and in the Books sent down before you, and firmly believe in the Hereafter. 4 It is the pious who follow the guidance of their Lord and gain lasting happiness. 5 Those who disbelieve, whether you forewarn them or not, they will not believe. 6 Allah has sealed up their hearts and ears and a covering has fallen over their eyes, and they have incurred the severest punishment. 7
