[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to all [Our] warnings; 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 “And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; only those may come whose turn it is.” 28 In response they called their companion he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 a blessing from Us; even so We recompense him who is thankful. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
