Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The sure calamity! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a Garden on high, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 And not known my account! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
