Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 Warn the men. 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 About the criminals, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
