He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
