The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 On an open record. 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the swollen sea 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
