And whatsoever of affliction befalleth you is owing to that which your hands have earned; and He pardoneth much. 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships in the sea like mountains. 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 And that those who argue concerning Our revelations may know they have no refuge. 35 That which you have been given is but the enjoyment of the present life. Better and more enduring is that which Allah has for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 And those who shun the great sins and indecencies, and whenever they are angry they forgive. 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 and who, whenever tyranny afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 And the retribution for an evil act is an evil one like it, but whoever pardons and makes reconciliation - his reward is [due] from Allah. Indeed, He does not like wrongdoers. 40 Yet indeed, as for any who defend themselves after having been wronged - no blame whatever attaches to them: 41 Blame lies on those who oppress, and terrorise the land unjustly. For them there is painful punishment. 42 But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs. 43
