AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 And [you have the same message] in [what happened to the tribe of] Ad, when We let loose against them that life-destroying wind 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
