The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And shade extended 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
