The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 And when the stars fall, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night swarming, 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
