And remember Our servant Ayyub, when he called upon his Lord: The Shaitan has afflicted me with toil and torment. 41 'Stamp thy foot! This is a laving-place cool, and a drink.' 42 We restored to him his family and like those with them, a mercy from Us and a reminder to a nation that understand. 43 We said to Him, "Take a handful of twigs in your hand and strike with that but do not break your oath." We found him steadfast. What an excellent servant! He turned constantly to his Lord. 44 And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - those of strength and [religious] vision. 45 Verily We! We distinguished them with a distinct quality: the remembrance of the Abode. 46 They were, in Our sight, truly, of the company of the Elect and the Good. 47 And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhul-Kifl, and all are among the outstanding. 48 LET [all] this be a reminder [to those who believe in God] - for, verily, the most beauteous of all goals awaits the God-conscious: 49 Gardens of Eden, whereof the gates are open to them, 50 wherein they recline, and wherein they call for fruits abundant, and sweet potions, 51 ۞ with them, they will have pure, modest women of an equal age. 52 Such is the Promise made, to you for the Day of Account! 53 this, verily, shall be Our provision [for you,] with no end to it! 54 This: and verily for the exorbitant there shall be an evil retreat: 55 hell will they have to endure - and how vile a resting-place! 56 This - let them taste it: scalding water and corruption. 57 and other similar to it, joined together. 58 [And they will say to one another: "Do you see] this crowd of people who rushed headlong [into sin] with you? No welcome to them! Verily, they [too] shall have to endure the fire!" 59 They will say, "Nor you! No welcome for you. You, [our leaders], brought this upon us, and wretched is the settlement." 60 adding, "Our Lord, give double punishment to those who brought this upon us." 61 And they shall say: What is the matter with us that we do not see men whom we used to count among the vicious? 62 "Did we treat them (as such) in ridicule, or have (our) eyes failed to perceive them?" 63 Verily, that is the very truth, the mutual dispute of the people of the Fire! 64
