The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
