The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
