The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
