And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 And I shall be embarrassed, and my tongue will not speak plainly, therefor send for Aaron (to help me). 13 "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." 14 (It was) said: "By no means. Go with My signs, both of you. I am verily with you and I hear. 15 “Therefore approach Firaun then proclaim, ‘We both are Noble Messengers of the Lord Of The Creation.’ 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 (Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou didst dwell many years of thy life among us, 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 But the favour you oblige me with is that you have enslaved the children of Israel." 22 Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" 23 Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." 24 'Do you not hear' said he (Pharaoh) to those around him. 25 Moses went on, "He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
