And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
