The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it plunges, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near and hung above suspended, 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So have you considered al-Lat and al-'Uzza? 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
