The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And accepts the best, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
