The nobles of Pharaoh said: "He surely is a clever magician. 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - 111 who shall bring before thee every sorcerer of great knowledge." 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "Throw (now) thy rod": and behold! it swallows up straight away all the falsehoods which they fake! 117 ۞ Thus was the Truth vindicated and that which they were doing was made vain. 118 Thus were they there defeated and brought low. 119 and the sorcerers prostrated themselves, 120 And said: "We have come to believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 121 the Sustainer of Moses and Aaron!" 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: 125 "And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the Ayat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.) of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims." 126
