The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 By the House Frequented. 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 such as play at plunging, 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
