The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They have cried lies, and followed their caprices; but every matter is settled. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 And We bore Noah on the vessel built of planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
