Said the chieftains of Firaun’s people, “He is really an expert magician.” 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said, “Stop him and his brother, and send announcers to the cities to gather people.” 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 "Yes," said he, "you will be among the honoured." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ Thus the truth was upheld, and the falsehood that they practised was exposed. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 But the sorcerers fell down prostrate in adoration. 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences). 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 You only take revenge on us because we believed in the Lord when we saw His miracles. Lord, grant us patience and let us die Muslims (submitted to God)." 126
